Endel Tulving studied Kent Cochrane (aka KC) for several years starting in 1982. He determined that KC was an amnesiac who had lost his episodic memory, but whose other kinds of memory were intact. This was the first time this kind of patient was described in the research literature.
What Endel Tulving learned from KC gave a large boost to the theory of episodic memory, which at that time was being vigorously resisted as a separate kind of memory.
You will find several Youtube videos of Endel Tulving working with KC. I am including three on this website. If interested, please go on Google and look for more.
